The wait is finally over. Football’s most prestigious individual prize is entering its most exciting stage as the 2026 Ballon d’Or shortlists are officially being unveiled today, September 8. 🌍✨
And this isn’t just about one list of names. The announcement will reveal the contenders across the major Ballon d’Or categories, including 30 nominees for the men’s award and 30 for the women’s award, alongside the young-player, goalkeeper, coach and club categories. 👀🏆
The stakes are enormous because the 2025/26 season gave voters plenty to think about. The Champions League and 2026 FIFA World Cup are expected to play a major role in the conversation, with individual brilliance, decisive performances, team success, trophies and sporting conduct all forming part of the official voting criteria. 🌟⚽
Names such as Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane, Rodri, Ousmane Dembélé, Lionel Messi, Michael Olise, Vitinha and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have already been heavily discussed around the race. 👑🔥 But until the official shortlist drops, nobody can take anything for granted.
And that’s where the real drama begins… 😮💨🍿
Who made the cut? Who got snubbed? Which superstar will shock the football world by missing out? And who has the strongest case to eventually lift the golden trophy? 🏆👀
Last year, Ousmane Dembélé claimed the men’s Ballon d’Or, while Aitana Bonmatí took the women’s award. Now a new battle is beginning, with the eventual winners set to be crowned at a historic ceremony in London on October 26, marking the 70th edition of the Ballon d’Or. 🇬🇧✨
The countdown has officially reached another level. ⏳🔥
