Gary Neville believes that a potential swap deal between Manchester United and Chelsea, involving Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku, would be a major setback for United, especially when comparing both players’ recent performances. He strongly advises Sporting Lisbon’s manager, Amorim, to avoid letting this deal happen.
Neville’s comments come amid ongoing speculation surrounding Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford. Chelsea has reportedly shown a keen interest in the young winger, with rumors suggesting they may soon make a formal offer. A swap deal involving Nkunku heading to United while Garnacho moves to Stamford Bridge has been discussed, though no agreements have been finalized yet.
Neville, speaking on NBC Sport, expressed his disapproval of the potential deal from Manchester United’s perspective. He pointed out that Nkunku has struggled with injuries since joining Chelsea, which has hindered his ability to perform consistently. While he acknowledged Garnacho’s talent, Neville stated that United should only consider selling him if they receive a substantial offer. He firmly rejected the idea of a swap deal, suggesting it would not benefit United.
Although Neville opposed the trade, he acknowledged that Chelsea might be keen on making the move.
Additionally, Napoli has also been linked with Garnacho, but their sporting director indicated they would not pay over the odds, especially given that United is reportedly valuing the winger at £60 million.
