Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on Fabián Ruiz as they assess their midfield options, and the idea is already getting supporters talking. 👀🔥
The Spanish international has developed into one of Europe’s most accomplished midfielders at Paris Saint-Germain. Since arriving from Napoli, Ruiz has become an important part of PSG’s midfield and has now collected back-to-back Champions League titles, while also playing a major role for Spain.
And now Barcelona are being linked with the possibility of bringing him back to La Liga. 😮💨🇪🇸
Ruiz would offer something very different from the explosive attacking options Barcelona have added. He is technically elegant, physically strong and comfortable controlling games from deeper positions. He can carry the ball, dictate tempo, arrive around the box and provide another left-footed option in midfield.
For a team built around possession, that profile is extremely attractive. 🎯
The timing is particularly interesting because Barcelona already have an elite midfield core, including Pedri and the recently signed Rodri. That means a move for Ruiz would not simply be about finding a replacement.
It would be about adding another world-class option to an already stacked midfield. 🤯
Ruiz also has history in Spain. He developed at Real Betis before moving to Napoli in 2018, eventually making his way to PSG. Despite his success in France, he has previously spoken about his affection for Betis and his desire to return there at some point in his career.
That makes any potential Barcelona move complicated.
Even more so because PSG have already moved to secure his future. Ruiz signed a new contract in 2026 that keeps him in Paris until 2028, with an option for another year, meaning Barcelona would not be dealing with a player approaching free agency.
In other words, if Barça genuinely want him, they would likely have to negotiate a serious fee with one of Europe’s richest clubs. 💰😳
But there is something about Ruiz’s profile that could make the temptation impossible to ignore.
He knows Spanish football.
He has Champions League-winning experience.
He has played under elite coaches.
He has become a key figure for Spain.
And at 30, he could bring maturity and control to a Barcelona midfield increasingly packed with young talent. 🧠⚽🔥
Imagine a midfield rotation featuring Rodri, Pedri and Fabián Ruiz.
The technical quality would be ridiculous. 😭🤯
Barcelona have already shown this summer that they are willing to make major moves when the right player becomes available. With the club’s squad now looking increasingly ambitious, the idea of adding another elite Spanish midfielder could become one of the most intriguing transfer stories to watch.
For now, however, this remains a reported interest rather than a confirmed negotiation.
But one thing is clear…
Barcelona are watching Fabián Ruiz. 👀🔵🔴
And if Deco and the Barça hierarchy decide to make this serious, the transfer window could get VERY interesting. 🔥💰
