There is something brutal about watching your teammates receive the spotlight while you are left standing on the outside looking in. 😭💔
That is the feeling Barcelona fans are picking up from the viral image of Fermín López, surrounded by several of the club’s biggest names.
Eric García, Gavi, Rodri, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí are all pictured proudly displaying their commemorative awards, while Fermín appears in the foreground with a completely different expression. 👀
And social media has immediately turned the moment into a story of heartbreak.
But there is an important piece of context: Fermín has not suddenly become irrelevant at Barcelona. Far from it.
The midfielder remains an important member of Hansi Flick’s squad and has even been handed the prestigious No.7 shirt for the 2026/27 season, while Rodri has taken No.16.
That tells you just how highly Barcelona continue to value him. 🔥
Fermín has already shown that he can change games with his energy, late runs, aggression and ability to arrive in dangerous areas. He is exactly the type of player a coach can unleash when a match becomes chaotic.
But Barcelona’s squad has become ridiculously competitive.
Rodri has arrived to bring experience and control.
Lamine Yamal is already one of the faces of the club.
Gavi remains one of the most passionate midfielders in the squad.
Cubarsí continues to establish himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders.
Eric García has even been elevated into Barcelona’s leadership group after being selected as one of the club’s five captains for 2026/27.
And then there is Fermín.
Still fighting.
Still pushing.
Still waiting for his next opportunity to remind everyone exactly what he can do. 😤🔥
That may actually be the most dangerous version of Fermín.
Because this is a player who has repeatedly responded to competition by raising his level. Whenever doubts appear, he has a habit of answering on the pitch.
Barcelona don’t need Fermín to be the biggest name in the dressing room.
They need him to be the difference-maker when the game demands something extra.
And with Barcelona competing on multiple fronts, opportunities will come.
The Champions League.
La Liga.
Copa del Rey.
Big games.
Tight games.
Moments when Flick needs intensity and goals from midfield.
That’s where Fermín can make his statement. 👀🔥
So while the picture may look like a heartbreaking moment, Barcelona supporters should remember one thing:
Fermín López isn’t finished.
If anything, the competition around him could make him even hungrier. 😤💪
The smile may be missing from the picture…
But the fight is still there. 🔵🔴🔥
