Years later, Zlatan Ibrahimović’s words about Marcus Rashford still feel remarkably relevant. 😮💨
When Zlatan arrived at Manchester United, Rashford was still a young forward trying to establish himself at the highest level. But the Swedish superstar immediately recognised the extraordinary potential around him.
Zlatan famously described Rashford as a “huge talent” and said he was already seeing qualities that could make him a future star for England. 🌟
But it wasn’t just Rashford’s ability that impressed him.
It was the mentality.
Rashford later revealed how much he learned from Zlatan during their time together at Old Trafford, particularly from the Swede’s approach to football, his confidence and his attitude towards every match. 🧠🔥
For a young player surrounded by huge expectations, having a veteran with Zlatan’s personality and experience around him was significant.
And now, almost a decade later, Rashford finds himself facing another important chapter at Manchester United. 👀
After loan spells with Aston Villa and Barcelona, the England forward returned to Old Trafford in 2026 and was handed a fresh opportunity under Michael Carrick.
Carrick has publicly praised Rashford’s attitude and physical condition since his return, saying the forward looked ready to contribute after working strongly during pre-season.
Rashford’s return has therefore brought the spotlight back onto a player who once looked destined to become one of United’s defining stars.
The journey has been anything but straightforward.
There have been spectacular goals, difficult periods, loans, international success and now another opportunity to rebuild his Manchester United story. 🔴🔥
And perhaps the most fascinating part is that Zlatan’s old message remains relevant:
Don’t rush the talent. Give him time. Let him develop.
Zlatan once warned against placing too much pressure on the young Rashford, while making it clear that he believed the youngster had the ability to eventually “take over everything.”
Now Rashford is no longer the teenager Zlatan was mentoring.
He is the experienced player.
He is the senior attacker.
And Manchester United are once again waiting to see exactly what that talent can produce. 👀🔥
Maybe Zlatan saw the potential all along. 🥶🔴
