The Danish defender was forced off during Barça’s 3–1 victory over Sevilla after suffering what appeared to be a muscle problem. The moment was especially heartbreaking because Christensen looked visibly devastated as he made his way to the bench. 😢
Barcelona have since confirmed that the 30-year-old has suffered a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his left quadriceps, with the club expecting him to spend the next few weeks on the sidelines. His exact return will depend on his recovery.
The timing makes the setback even more frustrating. Christensen had worked his way back into Hansi Flick’s plans after a difficult period dealing with injuries, and he had started the Sevilla match alongside Pau Cubarsí.
