Liverpool’s pursuit of Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh was reportedly much closer to becoming reality than many fans realised. 👀
The Reds had already made £50m and £60m offers, both of which Brighton rejected as they pushed for a higher valuation of their 22-year-old winger.
But according to Gambian journalist Foday Manneh, Liverpool were still considering one final push on Deadline Day. The plan was reportedly to increase their offer into the region of £72m–£75m and try to get the deal over the line. 💰🔥

Minteh’s injury became more important than the transfer fee. The winger had undergone surgery after suffering a leg injury in pre-season, with his return expected to take several weeks.
Manneh revealed that Liverpool were asking serious questions about when Minteh would actually return, how quickly he could regain fitness and when they could realistically start relying on him.
That uncertainty ultimately stopped the Reds from going all the way.
