Manchester United’s attacking struggles have turned Marcus Rashford into one of the biggest talking points around the club. Every missed chance, every quiet spell and every disappointing performance seems to put him directly under the microscope.
But there is another big-name attacker who deserves far more scrutiny right now: Bryan Mbeumo. 😳
Mbeumo has started all five Premier League matches this season and played every minute, yet his league numbers currently stand at just two goals and zero assists.
That is not disastrous on paper, but when you look beyond the goals, the performances haven’t consistently matched the expectations surrounding him.
His two goals came against Ipswich Town and Everton, but he failed to produce a goal contribution against Hull City, Manchester City or Fulham.

Mbeumo played the full 90 minutes during United’s 1–1 draw at Craven Cottage. He managed five shots, but only one was on target, while his overall influence faded badly after half-time.
The National rated him 5/10, highlighting his poor second half and defensive shortcomings.
Even more telling was the nature of his chances. The Guardian noted that Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha both tested Bernd Leno from distance, but United continued to struggle to create clear-cut opportunities.
That is where the frustration comes in. 👀
Mbeumo wasn’t brought to Old Trafford simply to be another body in the attack. United need him to be one of the players who changes games.

And with United sitting on just five points after five Premier League games, the pressure on every attacking player is naturally increasing.
But here’s the important part: this isn’t about turning Mbeumo into the new scapegoat. ❌
He has already shown that he can be decisive for United. Last season, he scored against Nottingham Forest on the final day as United finished third, while his overall first season at the club was regarded as a productive one.
The issue is consistency.
If Rashford is being questioned for his performances, Mbeumo should face the same level of scrutiny. 🔥
United cannot afford an attack where one player is constantly blamed while another escapes criticism simply because the spotlight isn’t currently shining as brightly on him.
Mbeumo has the ability. He has the experience. He has already shown flashes of what he can provide.
