According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle offered Woltemade to Barça after Barcelona’s pursuit of a new No.9 had become complicated. The Catalan club had been heavily interested in Julián Álvarez, but Atlético Madrid refused to let the Argentine leave. Barça subsequently turned to Gabriel Jesus, completing his signing from Arsenal on deadline day.
Woltemade, meanwhile, had arrived at Newcastle from Stuttgart for around €75 million in August 2025. His first season in England produced 10 goals and three assists in 48 appearances, although his form reportedly became less convincing during the latter part of the campaign.
