Manchester United’s international break has created a rare opportunity for Michael Carrick to work closely with a significant group of first-team players at Carrington. While several Reds have travelled away on international duty, 15 players are remaining around the club for training, recovery and individual programmes. 🔴⚽
The group includes Carlos Baleba, Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo, Karl Darlow, Kobbie Mainoo, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Manuel Ugarte, Marcus Rashford, Benjamin Šeško, Tom Heaton and Dermot Mee. 👀🔥
This extended break comes at a crucial moment for United, who have endured a difficult opening stretch and sit 12th in the Premier League after their recent 1-1 draw with Fulham. With the next league fixture against Tottenham scheduled for October 10, Carrick has valuable time to prepare his squad without the usual pressure of a match every few days.
💪 BALeba’s return is one of the biggest talking points. The midfielder has been working his way back to full fitness, and additional time at Carrington could help him build rhythm before United return to competitive action.
⚡ Mason Mount is another player who can benefit enormously from uninterrupted training, while Manuel Ugarte continues his rehabilitation programme. United will be hoping both midfielders can strengthen Carrick’s options when the schedule resumes.
🧱 At the back, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw remain in Manchester. De Ligt has been working towards a return following his back surgery, while Maguire and Shaw were not selected for England duty.
🔥 And then there is the attacking department!
Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Šeško are among those staying behind, giving Carrick extra time to work on combinations, movement and attacking patterns.
Šeško’s situation will also be closely watched as he continues recovering from a recurring shin problem, while Rashford has also been dealing with an issue after his recent match.
👀 Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford were initially expected to be involved with England but withdrew from international duty, adding them to the group available around Carrington. Karl Darlow also withdrew from Wales duty.
🧤 With Darlow, Tom Heaton and Dermot Mee around the club, Carrington will still have plenty of goalkeeping experience despite the international departures.
This is not simply a holiday period for everyone at Manchester United. For Carrick and his coaching staff, the extended break represents an opportunity to recover injured players, improve fitness, work on tactics and build chemistry before a demanding run that includes Tottenham and Champions League action against Atlético Madrid. 🌍🏆
🔥 15 REDS. EXTRA TRAINING. EXTRA RECOVERY. EXTRA TIME FOR CARRICK TO COOK.
The big question is… which player will return from this international break looking completely transformed? 👀🔴
