Estêvão Willian’s situation at Chelsea, and the Brazilian wonderkid could once again become a name linked with a move to Catalonia. 👀🇧🇷

Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on Estêvão Willian’s situation at Chelsea, and the Brazilian wonderkid could once again become a name linked with a move to Catalonia. 👀🇧🇷

Estêvão was one of the most exciting young talents in South American football during his time at Palmeiras, and Barcelona were among the clubs that admired him before Chelsea won the race for his signature. Now, less than two years after that battle, Barça are reportedly monitoring his situation again.

The reason for the renewed attention is his lack of regular playing time under Xabi Alonso.

Estêvão has found himself on the fringes of Chelsea’s Premier League side at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign. Reports have highlighted his limited league minutes, with the winger struggling to break into Alonso’s preferred attacking setup. His opportunities have largely come from the bench, while his starts have been concentrated in cup competition.

That situation has naturally created questions about his long-term future.

Estêvão arrived at Chelsea with enormous expectations after his breakthrough at Palmeiras. During his final period in Brazil, he established himself as one of the country’s brightest attacking prospects, earning international recognition and eventually making the move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea clearly see him as an important part of their long-term project. Reports indicate that the club currently has no intention of simply letting him leave, while his contract runs until 2033.

But Barcelona are watching. 👀🔵🔴

According to reports, Barça sporting director Deco continues to appreciate Estêvão and has followed his development since his Palmeiras days. The Catalan club’s interest is currently described as monitoring rather than a completed negotiation, meaning there is no agreement or confirmed transfer at this stage.

And there is another fascinating layer to the story.

Barcelona already have Lamine Yamal, another left-footed young attacker who operates predominantly from the right side. Estêvão has a similar profile, which was one of the reasons Barça previously hesitated over making a major commitment for him. Deco has previously acknowledged the difficulty of bringing in another player occupying a similar position when Yamal was already developing into a key player.

However, football can change quickly.

If Estêvão continues struggling for minutes and begins looking for a new challenge, Barcelona could potentially explore the situation. The club would have to deal with Chelsea’s position, the player’s long-term contract and the financial demands of any possible deal.

For Estêvão, the immediate priority appears to be proving himself at Chelsea. Reports also indicate that he remains focused on earning his place rather than actively pushing for an exit, while Alonso has spoken positively about his attitude and training performances.

Imagine the possibilities, though… 😮‍💨🔥

Lamine Yamal on one side, Estêvão on the other, with Barcelona’s young attacking generation continuing to develop. The idea alone is enough to get Barça fans talking. 🔵🔴🇧🇷

For now, it remains a watching brief rather than a transfer agreement. But if Estêvão’s situation at Chelsea doesn’t improve, Barcelona could have a very interesting opportunity on their hands. 👀💣

Estêvão to Barcelona? The story may only just be starting… 🔥🔵🔴
