Manchester United are reportedly planning another major defensive rebuild, with Jarrad Branthwaite, Castello Lukeba, Murillo and Micky van de Ven among the names being linked with a possible move to Old Trafford. 👀🧱
🔴 JARRAD BRANTHWAITE
The Everton defender remains a long-term United target. Reports in September said United had renewed contact with his representatives after previously making two bids for him in 2024. Branthwaite is now tied to Everton until 2030, making any potential deal a major financial commitment.
🇫🇷 CASTELLO LUKЕBA
The RB Leipzig centre-back has emerged as another name in United’s plans. Recent reports suggest United’s recruitment team have been impressed by the French defender and could turn to him if Premier League options prove difficult to secure.
🇧🇷 MURILLO
The Nottingham Forest defender is also being monitored. Reports say United have maintained interest in the Brazilian, although Forest’s contract situation means a significant fee could be required to convince them to sell.
🇳🇱 MICKY VAN DE VEN
The Tottenham defender brings a completely different profile, particularly his extraordinary recovery pace. United have been linked with him as part of their search for a centre-back capable of defending large spaces. However, reports also indicate that his valuation could make a deal difficult.
🔥 THE BIG PICTURE
United’s reported defensive plans go beyond simply adding one centre-back. Recent reporting suggests the club are considering changes across the back line, with centre-back, left-back and right-back all potentially requiring investment.
👀 The names are flying around, but none of these players has agreed to join Manchester United. The current stories concern reported scouting, monitoring and transfer interest rather than completed deals.
Still… imagine Branthwaite, Lukeba, Murillo or Van de Ven walking into Old Trafford. 😳🔴
United’s defensive rebuild could be about to enter another huge chapter. 🧱🔥
