Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck, with the German defender emerging as a major target for Hansi Flick. 👀🔥
The 26-year-old left-footed centre-back is attracting serious attention across Europe, but reports claim Barcelona could be ready to make a move worth around €60 million. 💶🚨
Schlotterbeck recently extended his Dortmund contract until 2031, but reports have indicated that his new deal contains a release clause in the region of €50–60 million for certain top clubs.
For Barça, his profile is particularly attractive. Schlotterbeck is comfortable playing out from the back, possesses excellent passing ability and could provide a strong left-footed option in the heart of the defence. 🔥🧱
The idea of Schlotterbeck alongside Pau Cubarsí is already generating excitement among Barcelona supporters. One is an emerging Spanish defensive sensation, while the other brings Bundesliga and international experience. 👀🔵🔴
Flick reportedly appreciates Schlotterbeck’s qualities and sees him as a defender capable of fitting Barcelona’s possession-based football. However, Barça are not alone in the race, with several major European clubs also having been linked with the German international.
A €60M investment would be significant for Barcelona, but if the club believe Schlotterbeck can become a long-term defensive leader, this could be one of the most interesting transfer battles to watch. 💰🔥
