Dominik Szoboszlai has already produced some unforgettable moments at Anfield, but his stunning performance against Manchester City is one that Liverpool fans will remember for a long time.
When City came to Anfield in February 2026, the Hungarian midfielder stepped up when Liverpool needed a moment of pure brilliance. With the game locked at 0-0, Szoboszlai produced an outrageous free-kick from distance in the 74th minute.
The strike was absolutely ridiculous. From more than 25 yards out, Szoboszlai whipped the ball over the wall and into the inside of the post, leaving Gianluigi Donnarumma completely helpless.
For a moment, it looked like another classic Anfield night was unfolding.
Szoboszlai wasn’t just dangerous going forward either. He worked tirelessly, helped Liverpool defensively and even found himself involved in the chaotic final moments of the match. His battle with Erling Haaland in stoppage time eventually saw him sent off after VAR review.
Sadly for Liverpool, Manchester City turned the game around late, with Bernardo Silva equalising before Haaland scored a stoppage-time penalty. But even in defeat, Szoboszlai’s spectacular goal stole the show.
That free-kick was a reminder of exactly what the Hungarian can produce when he finds his rhythm. Power, technique, confidence and that unbelievable ability to strike the ball cleanly.
And with another huge Liverpool vs Manchester City battle coming up, Reds fans will be hoping Szoboszlai can summon that same Anfield magic once again.
If he starts firing like that again, City could be in for another serious problem.
