Liverpool fans have been handed a glimmer of hope ahead of the massive Premier League showdown with Manchester City at Anfield. 🔴🔥
Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo are both currently injured, after the pair were forced to leave international duty early. However, the Liverpool boss has not ruled either player out of Sunday’s blockbuster encounter. 👀⏳
Isak is dealing with a minor thigh problem that forced him to withdraw from Sweden’s squad, while Gakpo suffered an ankle issue during the Netherlands’ match against Serbia. Both players have returned to Liverpool for further assessment, leaving supporters anxiously waiting for the latest medical verdict. 😰🏥
But there’s another reason for Liverpool supporters to remain optimistic. 🇺🇾💪 Ronald Araújo was rested by Uruguay, meaning the defender should be fresher for the crucial period ahead and could become particularly important if Jeremy Jacquet is unable to recover from his hamstring problem.
The situation around Jacquet is also being closely monitored after he was diagnosed with a left hamstring strain. His potential absence could force Iraola to reshuffle his defensive line against a Manchester City side that has been scoring heavily in recent weeks. 😬⚔️
Iraola knows exactly how difficult the challenge will be. Liverpool have started his reign unbeaten, but City arrive at Anfield as the current Premier League leaders, making this one of the biggest tests of the season so far. The Spaniard has admitted his team will need to be “very, very good” to overcome Pep Guardiola’s former club under Enzo Maresca. 🔥🏟️
And the timing could hardly be more dramatic. Liverpool are preparing for a brutal run of fixtures, with nine matches scheduled before the next international break, meaning Iraola will need every available player fit and firing. 😮💨🔴
Now all eyes are on the medical updates. 👀
Will Isak recover in time? Will Gakpo make the squad? Can Araújo step up if Jacquet misses out?
Sunday at Anfield is shaping up to be an absolute blockbuster. 🔴🔥🏟️
Liverpool vs Manchester City… THIS ONE IS MASSIVE! 😱⚔️
