Let’s be honest, United need to get the best out of Bruno Fernandes.

If the midfield behind him can provide better defensive protection and more reliable possession, Bruno could spend less time trying to solve every problem himself.
A midfield featuring Santos and Baleba behind Bruno is certainly worth exploring.
However, Kobbie Mainoo must also remain part of the conversation. His technical qualities and ability to operate in tight spaces could offer Carrick another valuable option.
The real challenge is finding a system that gets the best out of these players without sacrificing the team’s defensive stability. 🔥

Yes, there are reasons to be optimistic, but United supporters have seen promising players struggle when the pressure increases.
Santos still needs to demonstrate consistency, improve his influence on games and show that he can handle the physical demands of English football over a sustained period.
He also needs to become more comfortable dictating the tempo when opponents press aggressively.
His performances against Atlético Madrid and Leeds provided useful opportunities to assess him, but two matches cannot tell us everything about his long-term potential.
The important thing is that Carrick continues to give him meaningful opportunities while allowing him to learn from his mistakes.

Manchester United’s problems cannot be solved by signing talented midfielders alone.

United need to give him time, define his role and build a midfield that allows him to play to his strengths.
