Manchester United’s decision to continue backing Michael Carrick for now is already raising serious questions among frustrated supporters, with growing concerns about the team’s performances and whether the current manager can turn things around.
Reports suggest that Jason Wilcox has held a meeting with Carrick, with the club’s hierarchy understood to be unhappy with the results so far. Although Carrick has not lost the board’s backing completely, the pressure is increasing, and improvements are expected over the coming matches.
The message appears clear: Carrick must deliver better results, or Manchester United could be forced to consider a change in the dugout.
But for some United fans, even giving him more time feels like another costly mistake.
For supporters, the concern is that Manchester United may be repeating a familiar mistake: allowing a struggling manager to remain in charge while hoping that results will magically improve.
United have already experienced too many managerial changes, disappointing seasons and promises of a fresh start. Fans want a clear plan, better football and a team capable of competing consistently, not another prolonged period of uncertainty.
The recent reports indicate that Carrick still has the board’s backing, but that support comes with pressure to improve both results and performances. United’s difficult start to the 2026/27 campaign has made the situation increasingly uncomfortable.
My opinion: Sack Carrick now before it is too late!
Personally, I believe allowing Carrick to continue simply because the board hopes he will turn things around could be another waste of valuable time. If the performances remain poor and there is no clear sign of progress, why should Manchester United wait until the situation becomes even worse?
The club should not wait until the season is completely damaged before making a difficult decision. If the board already has doubts about Carrick’s ability to deliver, it should act decisively rather than prolonging the uncertainty.
Of course, appointing another manager is not a magical solution. United must also address their squad weaknesses, recruitment decisions and the wider problems affecting the club. But the manager must take responsibility for what happens on the pitch.
Manchester United need results, not endless patience! If Carrick cannot find a way to change the situation quickly, the board must have the courage to move on and bring in someone who can restore belief, discipline and winning football at Old Trafford.
What do you think, United fans?
