Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as Michael Carrick’s side explores options to strengthen its midfield ahead of the January transfer window! 🔴👀
According to reports from TEAMtalk, United have made initial contact over a potential move for the 26-year-old German international. However, bringing him to Old Trafford will be anything but easy! 💰💥
🇩🇪 FELIX NMECHA ON UNITED’S RADAR!
Nmecha has developed into an important player at Borussia Dortmund, attracting attention with his physical strength, athleticism, technical ability and impressive ball-carrying skills.
The midfielder offers a combination of power and creativity that could help United improve their balance in the middle of the pitch. He can contribute defensively, drive the ball forward and support attacks, giving his team valuable versatility. 💪⚽
Interestingly, Nmecha spent more than a decade in Manchester City’s academy before establishing himself in German football with Wolfsburg and eventually Dortmund.
A return to Manchester could therefore bring him back to the city where his football journey in England began, but this time, the destination could be the red side! 👀🔴
💰 DORTMUND DEMAND €90M–€100M! UNITED MUST THINK TWICE! 😳
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly placing a massive valuation on their midfielder, demanding between €90 MILLION AND €100 MILLION for his signature.
That is approximately £76 million to £84 million, depending on exchange rates! 💸💣
Dortmund have little reason to let him go cheaply. Nmecha recently extended his contract until June 2030, and the German club reportedly consider him an important part of their long-term plans.
There is also a major obstacle for any January deal: reports indicate that a potential €80 million release clause would only become available in summer 2027, meaning United cannot simply activate it during the winter window.
With Dortmund holding the negotiating power, United could face a difficult battle if they decide to pursue him seriously. 🚫💰
🔴 WHY MICHAEL CARRICK COULD WANT HIM
United are looking for midfielders who can bring physicality, energy, technical quality and greater control to the team.
Nmecha’s profile could make him an attractive option, particularly if Carrick wants a midfield capable of competing against the strongest sides in England and Europe.
His ability to carry possession through congested areas and contribute at both ends of the pitch could offer United another dimension.
However, the big question is whether spending close to €100 million on him would represent the smartest investment when other midfield targets may also be available. 🤔🔥
⚔️ LIVERPOOL ENTER THE PICTURE!
Manchester United may not have a clear run at the German midfielder.
According to the same round of reports, Liverpool are also monitoring Nmecha as they assess alternative midfield targets, particularly amid uncertainty surrounding their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.
Chelsea and Tottenham have also been linked with interest in the Dortmund star, while other major clubs have monitored his situation in the past.
If United and Liverpool both decide to pursue him seriously, we could be heading towards another explosive transfer battle between two Premier League rivals! 😱🔥
🚨 JANUARY MOVE OR SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER?
Although United have reportedly made initial contact, there is currently no confirmed agreement and no indication that a formal bid has been accepted.
Dortmund’s high valuation and Nmecha’s long-term contract could make a January departure difficult. A move after the season may prove more realistic if the situation develops.
For now, United fans will be watching closely to see whether this interest turns into something more concrete. 👀🔴
