Chelsea Reportedly Leading the Race to Sign Liam Delap for £40 Million This Summer, Ahead of Manchester United

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has been widely praised for his performances this season, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists since joining the club last summer.

Despite his impressive individual displays, the 22-year-old’s efforts may not be enough to prevent Kieran McKenna’s side from being relegated. Nevertheless, his form has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all reportedly monitoring Delap with a view to a move at the end of the season. If Ipswich faces relegation, they could be forced to sell him for a reported £40 million fee. According to Caught Offside, Chelsea are currently in the lead for his signature.

With Nicolas Jackson struggling for form and Christopher Nkunku not seen as a natural striker by Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are expected to focus on signing a forward in the upcoming summer transfer window. While the club has been linked to several high-profile strikers, Delap might be a more affordable option as they look to strengthen their defense and midfield.

Delap’s performances suggest he’s ready for a move to a bigger club like Chelsea. Despite playing for a relegation-threatened team, he has shown he can handle pressure. Surrounded by better-quality teammates at Stamford Bridge, the young Englishman could unlock even more of his potential.

Although Manchester City included a buyback clause in their deal with Ipswich last summer, they are unlikely to activate it following their recent signing of Omar Marmoush. With Chelsea reportedly in pole position, it could soon be a matter of time before Delap moves to West London.
