“Doing Well” – Gianfranco Zola Names Chelsea Player Who Has Impressed Him Most This Season

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has praised Moises Caicedo for his impressive performances this season, acknowledging the significant improvement he has shown compared to last year.

After a challenging start to his time at Stamford Bridge, the Ecuadorian midfielder has become one of Chelsea’s key players. Despite a dip in form that saw Chelsea win just three of their last 11 league games, they managed a crucial win against Southampton, keeping their Champions League qualification hopes alive.

Currently in fifth place, Chelsea is only two points behind third but only four ahead of tenth, making their battle for a top-four spot increasingly competitive.

Zola, speaking to DR Sports, singled out Caicedo for praise: “Caicedo has been a big surprise because last year, he needed time to adapt. He didn’t perform as well as he is this year. This year, he’s doing really, really well.”

After a difficult first season following his British record transfer, Caicedo has become essential in midfield, showing why Chelsea invested heavily in him. Manager Enzo Maresca has lauded him for his ability to dominate the midfield and protect the defense. As Chelsea fights for a top-four finish, Caicedo’s role will be crucial.

However, there is one concern: Caicedo is one booking away from a two-match suspension. With a significant match against Arsenal looming, Chelsea may need to manage his playing time carefully to ensure he remains available for the crucial fixtures ahead.
