Darwin Nunez is reportedly set to leave Liverpool this summer, with Atletico Madrid showing interest, according to El Nacional.

After joining Liverpool three years ago as a major investment under Jurgen Klopp’s request, Nunez has struggled to live up to expectations. Despite Klopp’s consistent support, his performances have been inconsistent, with challenges adapting to the Premier League and criticism over his finishing.

Following the departure of a key defender and the arrival of Arne Slot last summer, Nunez found himself in a more secondary role, with players like Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz ahead of him in the pecking order. This has led Nunez to consider leaving Liverpool, with offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy on the table. However, his preference is to return to Spain, where he previously played for UD Almeria.

Although Barcelona has turned down the idea, Atletico Madrid is showing strong interest, with Diego Simeone seeing Nunez as a potential partner for Julian Alvarez. Nunez could make the move to the Estadio Metropolitano, especially if Antoine Griezmann departs.
