Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté for a potential transfer in 2026 as part of their plan to strengthen their defense.

This comes as the Spanish giants also target Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract expires this summer, making him a prime candidate for a free transfer.

Konaté, 25, has been an integral part of Liverpool’s defense since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021. This season, he has appeared in 30 matches, contributing two goals and two assists under manager Arne Slot.

Despite Liverpool’s attempts to extend Konaté’s contract, the French defender has not yet agreed to new terms, prompting interest from both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

During a recent press conference, Konaté confirmed that he has received a contract offer from Liverpool but refrained from revealing further details.

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Konaté fits into their broader defensive overhaul. They are reportedly close to securing Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, and if both transfers happen, it would significantly enhance their defensive options as they continue to challenge at the top level of European football.
