Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has given a reassuring update about Joshua Kimmich’s future at the club, despite ongoing interest from major European clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Freund is optimistic that Kimmich, whose contract is set to expire in June, will sign a new deal with Bayern.

Kimmich has been with Bayern Munich since 2015 and has established himself as a crucial player due to his versatility, playing both in defense and midfield. This has made him a highly sought-after target. Freund expressed confidence in Kimmich’s commitment to Bayern, especially after his key contribution to their 2-1 victory over Freiburg, where Kimmich assisted in the match-winning goal.

Despite rumors and media speculation, Kimmich has largely stayed silent on his future, expressing frustration over repeated questions about it. He recently emphasized that his situation remains unchanged from a previous statement he made.

Although Kimmich’s contract status could leave him available on a free transfer, Bayern Munich is focused on retaining him. The next few weeks could be crucial in determining whether Kimmich extends his stay or moves to one of the clubs tracking him.
