NBA Basketball News: Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine has once again proven that he is worthy of being retained by the team bearing the bull symbol.

The Chicago Bulls sent DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings this offseason in a sign-and-trade deal. In addition to sending Alex Caruso to the OKC Thunder in exchange for Josh Giddey, the Bulls confirmed that they are finally transitioning to a rebuild.

Unable to find a trade partner to take back Zach LaVine and the remaining three years of his five-year, $215 million contract, the Bulls entered the season hoping he could rebuild trade value. Although LaVine has missed three of Chicago’s 10 games, he has played extremely well in his seven appearances.

Averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists, LaVine has shot 50.5 percent from the field, and 43.4 percent from three-point range (a career high). Perhaps what’s most impressive about LaVine’s start to the season is his mindset amid persistent trade rumors.

“Both LaVine and veteran Nikola Vucevic know the Bulls want to move them, and will likely move to a contender after the market shifts in January and into the February trade deadline,” writes Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times. Despite knowing this, LaVine says it’s not difficult to maintain the right mindset (via Cowley).

“No, it’s not difficult. It’s understanding. If you don’t understand what you’re going into, then it’s difficult. I have the right mindset at the moment to understand what the game requires of me today try and do the right thing,” said Zach LaVine.

It’s a professional approach from LaVine that could take him to a contender if he maintains this level of play.
