Liverpool have reportedly decided to sell left-back Kostas Tsimikas during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.
Although the Greek international has played a significant role in recent seasons—including during the club’s Premier League-winning campaign—Liverpool are aiming to revamp their defensive line.
Since joining from Olympiacos in 2020, Tsimikas has mainly served as a backup to Andy Robertson. But with Robertson’s form dipping and the club planning for the future, they no longer see Tsimikas as the long-term solution at left-back.
Tsimikas Transfer Expected This Summer
The 28-year-old still has two years left on his contract, but Liverpool are open to offers. As they prepare for his departure, the club is targeting Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as his replacement. Football pundit Ian Wright has suggested that the deal for Kerkez is likely already in place.
A Memorable Spell at Anfield
Tsimikas has had his share of memorable moments in a Liverpool shirt, including scoring the winning penalty in the 2022 FA Cup final and assisting Virgil van Dijk’s decisive goal in the 2024 EFL Cup final. He has made 114 appearances across all competitions.
The defender is also known for his strong friendship with Mohamed Salah, once saying:
“Mo is one of my best mates… He’s always supported me. We’re really close and spend a lot of time together at the training ground.”
In addition to a new left-back, Liverpool may also need to secure a new right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold reportedly set to leave the club at season’s end
