Slot expressed his frustration with referee Tony Harrington in the 57th minute following a tackle by Curtis Jones, which Slot felt was fair but was penalized by Harrington. The referee showed a yellow card to both Jones and Slot, leading to boos from the Anfield crowd.
This booking marked Slot’s third of the season, following earlier yellow cards in matches against Chelsea and Arsenal. As a result, he will now serve a one-match suspension, meaning he will be required to watch from the stands.
After the game, Slot commented on the booking, saying, “There were a few moments when I could have been given a yellow card. It’s an emotional game, and with us being a man down, it was frustrating. It’s encouraging to see how we performed despite the setbacks.
It’s tough to judge from my position, but we have to accept what VAR decides. These decisions can be crucial, and in the end, we got a draw, so I don’t think we can blame the referee for that.”
Following the intense draw against Fulham, Slot will likely need time to recover before preparing for Liverpool’s next Premier League match against Tottenham.
However, with Arsenal also drawing over the weekend, the pressure on him to set up his team for the upcoming away game will be somewhat eased. Meanwhile, Liverpool will face Southampton in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals midweek.
