Liverpool player ‘refuses’ new contract in massive blow to Arne Slot and could now leave the club

A Liverpool player might be on his way out despite having his best season to date. Reports indicate that one player has rejected a new contract offer, signaling the potential departure of another key figure.

Since replacing Jurgen Klopp as manager in the summer, Arne Slot has impressed, guiding Liverpool to the top of both the Premier League and Champions League. However, much of the attention surrounding the team has focused on contract talks with key players Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom could leave for free next summer.

But these three stars aren’t the only ones Liverpool is trying to secure long-term. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, winger Luis Díaz could soon depart as he has turned down the club’s initial contract offer.

Currently under contract until 2027, Díaz is seen as a priority for Liverpool, who are eager to avoid a repeat of their ongoing contract disputes with Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold. However, the 27-year-old Colombian is reportedly dissatisfied with the offer, feeling it doesn’t adequately reflect his value to the team or the contributions he has made since joining from Porto in January 2022.

If Díaz becomes available, Barcelona is reportedly interested in bringing him to La Liga to strengthen their left-wing options. Nonetheless, Liverpool is likely to continue efforts to keep the talented winger, especially considering his excellent form this season. Díaz has scored 12 goals in 25 appearances so far, already matching his best tally from last season, despite playing 51 games.

With this in mind, it seems highly probable that Liverpool will press on with negotiations to ensure Díaz’s future at the club.
