Liverpool Set £40m Asking Price for Harvey Elliott as January Transfer Window Approaches
Liverpool have set a £40m price tag on Harvey Elliott as the young midfielder faces limited game time under manager Arne Slot. With interest from both Brighton and Borussia Dortmund, a January transfer could be on the horizon.
Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham for £4.3m after becoming the Premier League’s youngest-ever debutant, had a standout season last year under Jürgen Klopp. However, this season has been challenging for the 21-year-old due to a serious ankle injury and stiff competition for spots, leading to only nine appearances so far—none of which have been in the Premier League.
Borussia Dortmund, a club known for nurturing top young talents like Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, and Jude Bellingham, are reportedly keen on offering Elliott a new opportunity. Brighton, with their reputation for smart transfers, are also monitoring the player’s situation, recognizing his potential despite him still being young.
Liverpool are prepared to part with Elliott for a fee between £35m and £40m, acknowledging the intense competition he faces in both the attack and midfield positions. Slot addressed Elliott’s limited minutes, emphasizing that the player is still working to regain full fitness after his injury.
“He’s a talented player, but like everyone, he’s competing with many other good players. In this league, with its tempo and intensity, it’s tough to return to peak form quickly,” Slot explained.
Since joining Liverpool, Elliott has made 128 appearances and scored 11 goals. As January nears, his future at Anfield remains in question.
