Oliver, 39, refereed the chaotic 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Everton at Goodison Park, a match that saw several disciplinary actions.
He sent off Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure after the two clashed, with Jones allegedly angered by Doucoure’s apparent taunting of the away fans. Both players received a second yellow card and were dismissed.
Following this, Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff were also sent off after a heated exchange with the officiating team.
Lip reader Jeremy Freeman revealed that Slot, 46, was heard criticizing the officiating and sarcastically complimenting Oliver after the game.
Slot admitted in a press conference that his emotions got the best of him and expressed regret, stating he would handle the situation differently in the future.
As for Oliver, he will not be officiating at Anfield for Liverpool’s upcoming match against Wolves, where Simon Hooper will take charge, with Oliver serving as VAR for Brighton’s match against Chelsea on Friday and Aston Villa’s game against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
