Michael Carrick could be preparing a major tactical shake-up at Manchester United, with a 3-5-2 formation emerging as a potential solution to the Red Devils’ recent problems. 👀🔴
United’s start to the 2026/27 campaign has been frustrating. Despite producing a huge volume of shots, the team have struggled to consistently turn attacking pressure into clear-cut chances and points. After five Premier League matches, United have collected just five points, while also suffering a disappointing Carabao Cup exit to Brighton after throwing away a 2-0 lead.
Now, a change in structure could be exactly what Carrick is considering. 🧠⚙️
A 3-5-2 would give United an extra centre-back while allowing the wing-backs to push higher and provide the width. In midfield, Carrick could field three central players, giving Bruno Fernandes greater freedom to operate closer to the attack instead of constantly having to carry the creative burden from deeper positions. 🎯
