Newcastle United is unwilling to sell star striker Alexander Isak this summer unless they receive an “astronomical” offer, according to journalist David Ornstein.
Despite interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Barcelona, Newcastle’s leadership—led by chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan—has instructed club officials to reject all bids for the 25-year-old forward. Both CEO Darren Eales and manager Eddie Howe have publicly stated their commitment to keeping Isak at St. James’ Park.
Isak’s Contract Situation
The Swedish international, under contract until 2028, does not have a release clause. While Newcastle plans to discuss a new deal with him after the season, his future may depend on the club’s European qualification.
When asked about his future, Isak stated:
“I’m not really thinking about the summer. But yeah, that [contract] will probably be a talking point once the season’s finished. We’ll really see, but no talks have been held yet.”
Newcastle’s Transfer Stance
Newcastle is not considering swap deals—such as rumored exchanges involving Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez or Jarell Quansah—and will only entertain a sale if a club meets their £150 million valuation.
Ornstein clarified:
“Newcastle has no intention of selling—Isak will have three years left on his contract this summer, and given the club’s investment in him, only an extraordinary offer would make them reconsider.”
While Newcastle is under no financial pressure to sell, Ornstein expects Isak’s future to remain a major talking point in the upcoming transfer window, especially if the club secures Champions League qualification.
