Enzo Fernández Nears Move to Real Madrid as Chelsea Eyes Replacement

Real Madrid is reportedly closing in on a significant midfield addition, with Chelsea considering the sale of Enzo Fernández. The Premier League club has already begun looking for a replacement, with Sporting CP’s young talent Dário Essugo emerging as a prime target.

Chelsea Targets Essugo as Enzo’s Replacement

Despite some inconsistencies and suspensions during his loan at UD Las Palmas, Essugo remains one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders. Chelsea is said to be willing to pay around €22 million for the 19-year-old Portuguese player, who could be loaned out next season to further develop his game.

Essugo was previously linked with Real Madrid, though Los Blancos chose not to meet Sporting’s asking price at the time. Now, Chelsea appears set to make a move for him, signaling their intent to sell Enzo Fernández.

Real Madrid’s Interest in Enzo Fernández

Fernández, who joined Chelsea for a record €121 million in 2023, has had a mixed stint at Stamford Bridge and is reportedly open to a move. Chelsea is expected to demand at least €70 million for the Argentine midfielder, and Real Madrid is carefully monitoring the situation.

With Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos approaching the end of their careers, Madrid is actively searching for long-term midfield reinforcements. While Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Fede Valverde form a solid core, Enzo’s passing range and defensive contributions could offer additional depth to Ancelotti’s squad.

Could Real Madrid Seal the Deal for Enzo?

Florentino Pérez, known for his shrewd transfer dealings, may make a move if the right opportunity presents itself. However, with Chelsea demanding a hefty price and Madrid potentially having other priorities, negotiations could prove difficult.

If the deal goes ahead, Enzo Fernández would strengthen an already formidable Real Madrid midfield, further solidifying their dominance in European football. Meanwhile, Chelsea will continue their midfield rebuilding process, with Dário Essugo potentially stepping into Enzo’s role.
