Belgian journalist Filip Joos has stirred up conversation by fantasizing about a stunning move to Liverpool—or even Manchester United. While Joos admits such a move is unlikely, he compares the scenario to Johan Cruyff’s shocking transfer from Ajax to rival Feyenoord.
“I’d love to see De Bruyne at Liverpool or United,” Joos said, “but it probably won’t happen. He deserves to choose a path that suits him now.”
De Bruyne was a pivotal figure in Pep Guardiola’s reign at City. Interestingly, Jurgen Klopp once tried to sign him during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Despite City’s dominance, De Bruyne only managed five wins against Liverpool and struggled in recent meetings, particularly in February when Liverpool did the double over City.
