Barcelona Considering Alessandro Bastoni as Possible Successor to Ronald Araujo
Barcelona are reportedly showing interest in Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as a possible replacement for Ronald Araujo, whose future at the club is currently uncertain. Although Araujo has been a key player in recent seasons, questions about his future have emerged, especially following his performance against Inter.
In contrast, Bastoni impressed Barcelona’s management—led by Deco—with his leadership and defensive skills during their encounters. The 26-year-old Italian, known for initiating plays from the back and adapting to various tactical setups, is seen as a perfect fit for the team’s planned defensive overhaul. New coach Hansi Flick is said to have approved the move.
However, prying Bastoni away from Inter won’t be easy. The club has no urgency to sell, as his contract runs through 2028. Barcelona may need to offload Araujo for a significant fee to fund a potential deal.
