Just days after celebrating their 20th league championship with a Premier League trophy parade, Liverpool announced their first signing of what promises to be an active summer transfer period: Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

New manager Arne Slot isn’t stopping there. The club has been linked to several other notable players, including Frimpong’s former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

Now, reports indicate Liverpool are targeting another top-level player who was previously sought by Manchester United—potentially one of the summer’s best value signings.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are interested in Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae as they look to bolster their defense.

With contract negotiations for Ibrahima Konaté reportedly stalled, and Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah possibly departing, the club seems eager to bring in an additional central defender.

Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, initially aimed to sign Dean Huijsen from his former club Bournemouth, but the young defender ultimately chose Real Madrid.

As a result, Kim Min-jae has become a strong alternative. The South Korean’s future at Bayern appears uncertain, especially with Jonathan Tah expected to arrive.

Kim joined Bayern from Napoli in 2023 for around €50 million (£42.1m) and has made 79 appearances since then. However, Bayern may now be willing to sell him for as low as €30–35 million (£25.3–29.5m), a significant 40% drop from his original fee.

Given his past links to Premier League teams such as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Kim might be open to moving to Liverpool.

This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been connected with Kim; rumors first appeared during Virgil van Dijk’s lengthy injury in January 2023.

If Bayern offers him at a reduced price, Liverpool will likely face strong competition from other major clubs like Chelsea, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan.
