Arsenal have reportedly moved a step closer to securing the signing of highly rated Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi after agreeing to a transfer structure that satisfies the French club’s demands, paving the way for an €80 million deal.
The 18-year-old has quickly emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfield prospects. Despite his age, Bouaddi has already become a regular starter for Lille in Ligue 1 over the past 18 months, impressing with his maturity, technical ability, and composure in midfield. His performances have also drawn attention on the international stage, where he has earned praise for his displays with Morocco.
Due to his rapid rise, Bouaddi has attracted serious interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid. However, it is now Arsenal who appear to be among the frontrunners in the race for his signature.
Reports suggest that Lille originally valued the teenager at around €100 million if they were to sell him outright. However, the French club are open to a more flexible arrangement: selling Bouaddi for a reduced fee in the region of €75–€80 million, provided they are allowed to loan him back for the 2026/27 season. This would enable Lille to retain his services for another year, particularly as they prepare for European competition.
Arsenal, along with Manchester City and Chelsea, are believed to be willing to accept this loan-back condition in order to gain an advantage in negotiations. This compromise is seen as a strategic move that could help them beat rival clubs to one of Europe’s most promising young talents.
However, not all interested clubs are comfortable with the arrangement. Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly less enthusiastic about paying a large transfer fee for a player they would not immediately integrate into their squad, which could see them step back from the race.
According to recent updates from football insiders, the competition is now narrowing, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea emerging as the main contenders. If negotiations continue smoothly, Bouaddi could become one of the most high-profile teenage transfers of the 2026 window.
