Hansi Flick has been handed a delicious selection headache ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Elche, with several attacking stars capable of leading the line. 👀⚽
The biggest question surrounding Barça is simple: Who starts as the No.9? And one player has already made a strong case for himself — Hamza Abdelkarim. 🇲🇦🔥
The young striker enjoyed an impressive pre-season, finishing as Barcelona’s top scorer with four goals. He also started almost every friendly, giving Flick plenty of reasons to reward him with another opportunity from the opening whistle. 🎯💥
But Abdelkarim faces serious competition.
Raphinha remains an intriguing option through the middle. 🇧🇷⚡ Flick has already experimented with the Brazilian as a false nine, where his explosive movement, pressing ability and knack for attacking space could cause Elche plenty of problems.
Then there is Anthony Gordon. 🔥 The winger has demonstrated that he can operate centrally, including during the Joan Gamper Trophy, and his direct running and aggressive style could offer Barcelona something completely different at the top of the attack.
Dani Olmo is another fascinating possibility. 🇪🇸✨ Technically gifted, intelligent between the lines and comfortable drifting into dangerous areas, Olmo has the qualities to operate as a false nine. However, his lack of match rhythm could influence Flick’s decision.
Barcelona also have Lamine Yamal and Fermín López as alternative attacking solutions. 💎🔵🔴 Both possess the creativity and movement to cause damage, although they appear less likely to be selected as the starting No.9.
With so many possibilities, Flick’s decision could have a major impact on how Barcelona approach the match. One thing is certain: Barça have plenty of attacking firepower, and their ability to interchange positions could make them extremely difficult for Elche to contain. 🚨🔥
So, Barça fans, who should lead the line? 👀👇
🇲🇦 Abdelkarim
🇧🇷 Raphinha
🏴 Anthony Gordon
🇪🇸 Dani Olmo
The No.9 battle is ON! 🔥🔵🔴
