Manchester United’s summer transfer window is starting to look very different, and the potential arrival of Carlos Baleba could be the move that completely transforms Michael Carrick’s midfield. 🚨🔥
The Red Devils have already been busy reshaping the engine room, bringing in Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and goalkeeper Karl Darlow, while Baleba has emerged as the huge final piece United have been chasing. Tielemans arrived from Aston Villa for around £35 million, while Santos joined from Chelsea for an initial fee reported around £48 million.
And then came the blockbuster Baleba development. Manchester United agreed a deal with Brighton worth an initial £65 million, potentially rising to £70 million with add-ons, with the Cameroon international expected to undergo his medical before the move is completed.
💥 Carlos Baleba ⏳
✅ Youri Tielemans
✅ Andrey Santos
✅ Karl Darlow
On paper, that is a completely different-looking squad.
Baleba could provide exactly what United have been missing in the middle of the pitch: power, athleticism, defensive aggression and the ability to carry the ball forward. His arrival would give Carrick another powerful option in the No. 6 role and could allow players such as Santos and Tielemans to operate with greater freedom.
The exciting part is the potential balance.
Tielemans brings Premier League experience, composure and passing quality. Santos offers energy and dynamism, while Baleba can provide the physical presence and defensive protection needed to make the midfield tick. 🔥⚙️
But here comes the BIG question… 👀
Should Manchester United stop there?
Not necessarily.
Reports have indicated that United have also been looking at strengthening the left-back position, with names such as Myles Lewis-Skelly and Lewis Hall previously linked with the club.
That could become United’s next priority, especially with the demands of a long Premier League campaign and European football.
So while Baleba could give Carrick the midfield foundation he wants, there are still areas where the squad could use another injection of quality. Carrick himself has stressed the importance of having a strong spine and balance through the middle of the team.
United fans have every reason to be excited. 😮💨🔴
A midfield featuring Baleba, Santos and Tielemans, alongside the club’s existing options, suddenly looks far more physical, versatile and competitive.
The question now isn’t simply whether United should sign another player.
It is WHO should be next? 👀🔥
If Carlos Baleba is officially confirmed, should Manchester United make one more major signing before the transfer window closes? 🔴💭
