Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton, bringing one of the Premier League’s most exciting young midfielders to Old Trafford. ❤️🔥
The 22-year-old Cameroon international has signed a five-year contract running until 2031, with United holding an option to extend the deal by another year. The transfer is worth £65 million upfront, potentially rising to £70 million with add-ons.
And this one has been a LONG time coming! 👀⏳
United had been tracking Baleba for almost a year, but Brighton previously placed a huge valuation on their midfielder. Now, the Red Devils have finally got their man, and Baleba has arrived at the Theatre of Dreams ready for the next chapter of his career. 🔴🏟️
Baleba leaves Brighton after making 112 appearances for the Seagulls following his move from Lille in 2023. During his time in England, he developed into a powerful, aggressive and athletic midfielder capable of winning duels, breaking up attacks and driving the ball forward. 💪🏾⚽
That is exactly what Manchester United have been crying out for! 😮💨🔥
With Casemiro gone and Manuel Ugarte dealing with a serious injury, United needed more energy, physicality and defensive authority in the middle of the pitch. Baleba’s arrival could give Michael Carrick the midfield presence needed to bring greater balance to the team.
And there’s another huge talking point…
Baleba becomes United’s third major midfield signing of the summer, joining Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans as part of a massive midfield rebuild that has taken United’s spending in the area to around £148 million. 💰🔴🔥
But Baleba isn’t simply arriving because of his potential.
The midfielder has already made it clear just how much this move means to him, describing Manchester United as “the club of my dreams.” He also expressed his excitement about playing at Old Trafford and working under Michael Carrick. ❤️🏟️
“I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick,” Baleba said, praising the manager’s experience and knowledge of the game.
There is, however, a little patience required from United supporters. Baleba is currently recovering from an ankle injury suffered during pre-season, with reports suggesting he could return around mid-September. 🚑⏳
Still, when he eventually steps onto that Old Trafford pitch in a United shirt, the excitement is going to be MASSIVE. 😍🔥
