Barcelona arrive with confidence after an explosive opening-day performance, having smashed Elche 5–0. Raphinha was among the standout performers, scoring twice while operating in a more central attacking role as Flick continues to find solutions in his reshaped squad.
But now comes a completely different challenge. Athletic Club are coming to Camp Nou with something to prove, and Barça know they cannot afford to switch off for even a moment. The Basque side suffered a 3–1 defeat against Sevilla in their opening league match, making Thursday’s encounter even more important for both teams.
🔥 THE BIG TALKING POINT: RODRI’S DEBUT
One name has sent excitement levels through the roof: Rodri. 😍🔵🔴
Flick has indicated that the Spanish midfielder is expected to receive minutes, meaning supporters could finally get their first competitive glimpse of the new midfield partnership involving Rodri and Pedri. Flick himself has spoken about his eagerness to see the two midfielders playing together.
Imagine Rodri controlling the tempo, Pedri gliding between the lines and Barcelona’s attacking stars causing chaos in the final third. 🤯🔥

And there is another intriguing return to the squad. Alejandro Balde is reportedly included after being left out of Barcelona’s previous match, adding another layer of competition and selection drama around Flick’s defensive options.
