Unai Emery is preparing for a seriously dangerous Arsenal side as Aston Villa get ready for a mouthwatering Premier League showdown at Villa Park. 👀🔥
The former Arsenal boss knows better than most how much quality Mikel Arteta’s team possesses, but this version of the Gunners looks even more formidable.
Arsenal have already made a flying start to the new campaign, producing a convincing 3-0 victory over Coventry City. Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard were on the scoresheet as Arteta’s men immediately laid down a marker. 💪🔴⚪
Villa, meanwhile, could hardly have imagined a worse opening. Emery’s team were thrashed 4-0 by Brighton, exposing just how much work still needs to be done after a summer of major changes. 😳
The situation is particularly challenging because Villa have lost several key players. Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Ezri Konsa have all departed, while the future of Ollie Watkins has also been surrounded by uncertainty.
That makes Emery’s next challenge even bigger.
The Spaniard has already admitted that Aston Villa often struggle during the early stages of seasons while the transfer window remains open, but this time the rebuilding job appears particularly demanding. Only a handful of players from the side that lifted the Europa League trophy started the defeat against Brighton. 😰
And now Arsenal are coming to town. 🔥
Adding even more spice to the encounter is the presence of Ezri Konsa.
The defender recently completed his move from Villa to Arsenal and could now make his debut against the club where he established himself as a Premier League star. Arteta has confirmed that Konsa is available for selection. 👀
Bruno Guimarães could also make his Arsenal debut after recovering from a minor injury, giving Arteta even more options as the Gunners look to build on their impressive opening-day performance.
For Emery, this is more than just another fixture.
It is a meeting with his former club, a reunion with a player who recently left Villa, and a massive test of whether his rebuilt Aston Villa side can compete with one of the Premier League’s strongest teams.
Villa need a response.
Arsenal want another statement.
And Emery knows exactly what is waiting for him. 😮💨🔥
This could be one of the most explosive Premier League battles of the weekend! 👀💥🔴⚪
