Liverpool now know exactly who stands between them and a place in the Champions League knockout rounds, following the 2026/27 league-phase draw. And there are some mouthwatering fixtures waiting for Andoni Iraola’s side! 👀🏆
The Reds have been handed eight different opponents, with four matches at Anfield and four away from home. The draw includes two heavyweight clashes against Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan, alongside some tricky European trips.
🏟️ AT ANFIELD
🇪🇸 Atlético Madrid
🇵🇹 FC Porto
🇪🇸 Villarreal
🇫🇷 RC Lens
✈️ AWAY FROM HOME
🇮🇹 Inter Milan
🇧🇪 Club Brugge
🇹🇷 Fenerbahçe
🇦🇹 LASK
And there is an emotional reunion waiting in Milan. 👀🔥
Liverpool’s trip to face Inter will see the Reds come up against former Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, adding another layer of drama to what is already one of the biggest fixtures of the league phase.
Then there is Atlético Madrid at Anfield.
Diego Simeone’s side reached the semi-finals last season, so Liverpool will have to be at their absolute best when the Spanish giants arrive on Merseyside. 😤🔥
But Liverpool will also look at this draw and believe they have a genuine opportunity to finish among the league phase’s top eight.
The new Champions League format sees each club play eight matches against eight different opponents, with four at home and four away. The top eight automatically qualify for the Round of 16, while teams finishing ninth to 24th must go through the knockout play-offs.
And Liverpool’s Anfield fixtures could prove crucial.
🔥 Atlético Madrid
🔥 Porto
🔥 Villarreal
🔥 Lens
Four home games. Four opportunities to collect maximum points in front of the famous Kop.
But the away schedule could test Iraola’s new Liverpool side.
Inter at San Siro. 😳
Fenerbahçe in Istanbul. 🔥
Club Brugge in Belgium.
LASK in Austria.
There will be no easy nights in Europe.
Liverpool’s Champions League campaign is scheduled to begin in September, with the Reds opening against Atlético Madrid at Anfield.
And with Liverpool undergoing a major squad transformation this summer, including the arrival of huge attacking names, European nights could provide the perfect stage for Iraola’s new-look team to announce themselves.
The road to European glory is officially mapped out. 🏆🌍
Now Liverpool have to walk it.
👀 Can the Reds finish inside the top eight and qualify directly for the Round of 16?
