Manchester United’s Left-Back Situation: Could Patrick Dorgu Be the Answer?

Manchester United’s left-back situation continues to generate plenty of discussion, but perhaps the solution is already within the squad.

Patrick Dorgu is naturally a left-back and possesses several qualities that could make him an important option in that position. His energy, pace and physical ability allow him to contribute both defensively and in attack, giving the team another dimension from the left side of the pitch.

There have been occasions when Dorgu has been used in more advanced positions, which can sometimes make people forget that his natural role is at left-back. However, with Manchester United still looking for the right balance across the defence, returning him to his familiar position could be worth serious consideration.

Harry Amass is another option available to the club. The young defender has shown promise and represents another potential long-term solution at left-back. Giving him opportunities to develop alongside experienced players could also benefit his progression.

With that in mind, Carrick could consider using Dorgu more consistently at left-back while continuing to develop Amass as an alternative. Dorgu’s pace and energy could provide the defensive stability and attacking width United need from that side.

Instead of rushing into the transfer market for another player, Manchester United could potentially strengthen the position by making better use of the options already within the squad.

The question is whether Dorgu should now be trusted as United’s primary left-back, with Amass developing as his understudy.

What do you think? Should Carrick play Patrick Dorgu at left-back and trust the current options, or should Manchester United still look for another signing?
