Manchester United have officially submitted their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League squad, and Michael Carrick has assembled a group packed with experience, fresh energy and serious attacking firepower. 🔴🔥
After securing a return to Europe’s elite competition, the Reds now know the players who will carry the badge into another campaign under the lights. UEFA’s official squad listing confirms Carrick as head coach and includes United’s 2026/27 Champions League group.
🧤 THE GOALKEEPERS
United’s goalkeeping department features Senne Lammens, Karl Darlow, Tom Heaton and Dermot Mee, giving Carrick several options between the sticks as the season intensifies. 🧤🔴
🛡️ DEFENCE PACKED WITH EXPERIENCE AND YOUTH
At the back, Carrick can call upon Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw.
That defensive group combines Champions League experience with the versatility of younger players such as Dorgu, who has already shown he can operate in different positions. 👀💪
⚙️ MIDFIELD GETS A SERIOUS UPGRADE
The midfield list is where things become particularly interesting.
Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba, Manuel Ugarte and Ayden Heaven are all included.
Bruno remains the creative heartbeat of the side, while the arrivals of players such as Baleba, Tielemans and Santos give Carrick significantly more options in the middle of the pitch. United have invested heavily in midfield, with the club looking to add greater energy, control and physicality to the team.
🔥 THE ATTACKING FIREPOWER IS SERIOUS!
And then comes the part United supporters will be watching most closely.
Carrick’s attacking options include Marcus Rashford, Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirkzee, Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo, Tynan Thompson and Benjamin Šeško. 😮💨🔥
That is a front line capable of causing serious problems.
Šeško gives United a powerful central attacking option, while Mbeumo, Cunha, Rashford and Amad provide pace, creativity and different attacking profiles.
The combination of Mbeumo, Cunha and Šeško has already generated plenty of excitement around United’s new-look attack, while Rashford’s return to the squad adds another major storyline. Rashford also impressed during United’s recent 5-2 comeback victory over Ipswich, while Bruno Fernandes stole the headlines with a hat-trick.
🚨 BUT HERE’S THE BIG TALKING POINT… MAINOO & YORO!
One of the most interesting aspects of United’s European registration is the situation surrounding Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro.
Both players were born in 2005 and have been discussed in relation to UEFA’s List B regulations. Their eligibility means United can potentially avoid using valuable List A places on them, depending on the final registration requirements. Recent reporting has also stressed that neither player is simply ruled out of Champions League involvement because they do not appear on the List A squad.
That could be a huge advantage for Carrick.
Instead of viewing their absence from List A as a disaster, United can potentially use UEFA’s youth-registration rules to maintain squad flexibility while still having access to talented young players. 👀🔴
💥 THE BIG QUESTION NOW: CAN THIS SQUAD GO DEEP IN EUROPE?
United are returning to the Champions League with a squad that looks considerably different from previous seasons.
There is experience in Bruno Fernandes, Maguire, Shaw and Martínez.
There is youth in Heaven, Thompson and the other emerging talents.
There is creativity through Mount, Fernandes, Cunha and Amad.
There is power and athleticism in midfield with Baleba, Ugarte and Santos.
And there is serious attacking excitement surrounding Mbeumo, Rashford and Šeško. 🔥
Carrick now has the responsibility of turning all those individual pieces into one dangerous European team.
The Champions League is a completely different beast. The margins are tiny, the nights are massive and every mistake can be punished. But after United’s strong response against Ipswich, confidence around the squad is growing.
Old Trafford is getting its Champions League nights back. 🌙🏟️
United are back among Europe’s elite. 🔴🇪🇺
And Carrick’s European adventure is officially ready to begin. 🏆🔥
