There is something about Manchester United under the Old Trafford lights when European football arrives. The noise gets louder, the pressure gets heavier and the famous Theatre of Dreams seems to come alive. 🌙🔥
United’s recent home record in European competition has given supporters plenty of reasons to believe that the fortress is still very much alive. Across their last six European home matches, the Red Devils have reportedly produced a perfect six wins, scoring an impressive 20 goals without suffering a single defeat. 😮💨🔴
That means an average of more than three goals per game during that run. 💥⚽
And now, the Champions League is back at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are returning to Europe’s elite competition after a two-year absence, with Michael Carrick leading the club back onto the biggest continental stage. Carrick, who was part of United’s legendary 2008 Champions League-winning side, has already spoken about the special feeling surrounding the competition and the ambition to go as far as possible. 🏆👹
The timing could hardly be more dramatic.
United’s opening Champions League fixture brings Sabah FK to Old Trafford, with the Azerbaijani side making its Champions League league-phase debut. It will also be a completely new competitive meeting between the two clubs. 🌍⚽
But the bigger story is the atmosphere.
When those famous floodlights come on, the Champions League anthem rings around the stadium and thousands of United supporters raise their voices, Old Trafford can become a completely different beast. 🔥🏟️
And United’s recent European home numbers only add fuel to the excitement.
6️⃣ European home games
6️⃣ victories
2️⃣0️⃣ goals scored
0️⃣ defeats
That is the kind of record that sends a warning to every team travelling to Manchester. 😤🔴
United’s return to the Champions League also brings some mouthwatering nights ahead, including home meetings with European giants such as Bayern Munich and Roma, while Atlético Madrid, Sporting CP, Villarreal, RB Leipzig, Como and Sabah are also part of their league-phase schedule. 🌍🏆
After years of European frustration, Old Trafford is ready to hear that Champions League music again.
The lights are on. 🌙
The crowd is ready. 🔥
Europe is back. 🏆
And when Old Trafford gets rocking on a European night… anything can happen. 👹❤️🔥
