Hamza Abdelkarim Ready for Champions League Night as Barcelona Prepare for Feyenoord

A huge European opportunity is waiting for Hamza Abdelkarim as Barcelona prepare to face Feyenoord at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The young Egyptian forward has been included among the players training with Hansi Flick’s first team ahead of the highly anticipated European clash, putting him in contention for what could be his first Champions League appearance.

And if Flick decides to unleash him, Abdelkarim could provide exactly the spark Barcelona need.

The 18-year-old has already made a strong impression since arriving in Catalonia. After joining Barça initially on loan, the club made his move permanent until 2029 following an impressive spell with the youth side. He scored six goals in nine league appearances for the U19A team and even produced a spectacular hat-trick in a 9-0 victory over Montecarlo.

His preseason was even more eye-catching.

Abdelkarim finished as Barcelona’s leading preseason scorer with four goals, showing the movement, link-up ability and finishing instincts that have made him such an exciting prospect. His performances earned him opportunities with the senior squad, and he eventually made his competitive debut against Rayo Vallecano on 31 August.

That appearance also made history.

Abdelkarim became the first Egyptian player to represent Barcelona’s first team and only the third Egyptian footballer to appear in La Liga. His journey from Al Ahly to the biggest stage in European football has therefore moved incredibly quickly.

Now, the Champions League could be his next chapter.

Barcelona enter the Feyenoord match after winning their opening four La Liga games, but the European stage brings a completely different level of pressure. With attacking options needing to deliver and the game potentially becoming stretched as the second half progresses, Abdelkarim’s pace, movement and direct approach could become a valuable weapon for Flick.

Starting from the bench could even work in his favour.

If Feyenoord’s defenders begin to tire, introducing a young and energetic striker like Abdelkarim could create problems in the final stages. His ability to make runs behind the defence and attack spaces could give Barcelona another dimension when the opposition starts losing its intensity.

The teenager has already shown that he does not need many opportunities to make an impression. He scored on his first appearance for Barça U19A, finished preseason as the club’s top scorer and then made his competitive first-team debut.

Now comes the biggest test yet.

A Champions League debut at the Spotify Camp Nou, in front of thousands of Barça supporters, against Feyenoord.

For Abdelkarim, this is more than another match. It is the kind of European night young footballers dream about.

If Flick gives him the green light, Barcelona could witness the beginning of another exciting chapter in the rise of their Egyptian youngster.

Hamza Abdelkarim is ready. The question now is whether Hansi Flick will give him the stage.

Are Barcelona fans ready to see Hamza Abdelkarim take his first steps on the biggest stage in European football?
