The Barcelona star was questioned about the controversy surrounding Madrid, particularly after their recent defeat to Real Betis, where several refereeing decisions became a major talking point.
Yamal did not appear interested in getting dragged into the debate.
“If Real Madrid haven’t won LaLiga for two years, that’s their problem. I don’t know.”
He then made his position even clearer, insisting that Barcelona have no reason to complain about the officials based on what they have experienced so far this season.
“We are very happy with the refereeing and everything so far. You should be asking them those kinds of questions.”
The comments immediately added more fuel to the already intense Barcelona vs Real Madrid rivalry.
Barcelona have started the season strongly, winning their opening four LaLiga matches and sitting at the top of the table, while Real Madrid have dropped points after suffering a defeat against Real Betis.
Yamal’s response is also particularly interesting because the refereeing debate has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding Spanish football. Real Madrid have repeatedly voiced their frustrations with decisions this season, while Barcelona have continued to focus on their performances on the pitch.
For Yamal, the message appears simple: Barcelona are happy with their situation, and Madrid should deal with theirs.
The 19-year-old is currently enjoying an outstanding start to the campaign, including a brace in Barcelona’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Valencia.
Now, with Barcelona preparing for their Champions League clash against Feyenoord, Yamal has made it clear that his attention is firmly on Barça and their pursuit of European success.
But one thing is certain: his latest comments will not go unnoticed in Madrid.
The rivalry just got another spicy chapter.
