Manchester United 4️⃣–0️⃣ Sabah FK: A European statement at Old Trafford! 🔥🔴
The Champions League anthem returned to Old Trafford, and Manchester United made sure the occasion ended in style! 🏆✨ After their long wait to return to Europe’s biggest club competition, the Reds delivered a commanding 4–0 victory over Sabah FK, giving Michael Carrick’s side the perfect start to their European campaign.
It was not the fastest of starts from United, with Sabah showing plenty of confidence during the opening stages. But once the Reds found their rhythm, the difference in quality became impossible to ignore. ⚡
🔥 CUNHA BREAKS THE DEADLOCK!
Matheus Cunha opened the floodgates after United capitalised on a mistake from Sabah. The move developed quickly, with Bruno Fernandes finding Patrick Dorgu, whose low delivery was attacked brilliantly by Cunha.
The Brazilian reacted sharply to finish from close range and register his first Champions League goal for Manchester United. 🇧🇷⚽
Old Trafford erupted. The pressure was finally off. And United were only getting started! 😮💨🔥
🎩 BRUNO FERNANDES STEPS UP AGAIN!
When Manchester United need someone to take control, the captain continues to answer the call.
Bruno Fernandes doubled United’s advantage before half-time after a beautifully constructed attacking move involving Youri Tielemans, Dorgu and Cunha. Bruno received the ball inside the area and calmly guided his finish beyond the goalkeeper. 🎯🇵🇹
The captain was pulling the strings, United were growing in confidence, and Sabah were beginning to struggle to contain the pressure. 🔴🔥
🇸🇮 ŠEŠKO ANNOUNCES HIMSELF ON THE BIG STAGE!
Then came Benjamin Šeško. 💥
The Slovenian striker continued his impressive recent momentum by finding the net again, finishing a brilliant attacking move involving Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno and Bryan Mbeumo.
Šeško showed excellent composure, going around the goalkeeper before sliding the ball into an empty net. 🥶⚽
After scoring against Everton, the striker followed it up with another goal in Europe, strengthening his case for even more responsibility in Carrick’s attack.
United went into the break 3–0 up, and the game was effectively under their control. 🔥
🛡️ LISANDRO MARTÍNEZ PUTS THE ICING ON THE CAKE!
The second half saw United manage the game intelligently before Lisandro Martínez added a spectacular fourth. 🇦🇷💪
A chaotic sequence inside the Sabah penalty area eventually fell perfectly for Martínez, who smashed the ball into the net from close range.
4–0. Game over. 😤🔴
