Arsenal’s Champions League battle with Atlético Madrid left supporters with plenty to celebrate, but one player still found himself under the microscope. 👀🔥
David Raya was heavily scrutinised by some fans after moments of uncertainty against Atlético, with critics questioning whether he can be the goalkeeper Arsenal need if they are serious about finally lifting the biggest trophies. 😬🧤
The criticism became particularly intense online, with some supporters going as far as claiming Arsenal would “never win anything with him.” That reaction shows just how high expectations have become around Mikel Arteta’s side. 😳
However, the bigger picture tells a very different story. Raya was also crucial during Arsenal’s Champions League run, including the semi-final second leg against Atlético, when he kept a clean sheet as the Gunners secured a place in the final.
And the Spaniard has continued to prove his value this season. Against Chelsea just days ago, Raya produced a huge late save to protect Arsenal’s 2-1 victory.
So while one poor moment can quickly become a social-media storm, judging a goalkeeper solely on one performance would be harsh. Arsenal are competing at the highest level, and every mistake is going to receive enormous attention. 👀
Arteta clearly still trusts his goalkeeper, and Raya’s recent performances suggest the story is far from as simple as the critics are making it sound. 🔴🧤🔥
Do you think Raya is good enough to win major trophies with Arsenal? 🤔👇
