The Manchester Derby is almost here, and one of Michael Carrick’s biggest decisions could be whether Marcus Rashford gets the nod against Manchester City at Old Trafford. 🏟️🔥
Rashford has quietly become an important part of United’s attack again. After returning to the club following loan spells away, the 28-year-old has impressed with his attitude, work rate and attacking movement. Reports say his transformation has been so noticeable that he has regularly been among the first players arriving for training. 👏🔴
Carrick also appeared to have the derby firmly in mind when he left Rashford on the bench during Thursday’s 4–0 Champions League victory over Sabah. While Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško both got on the scoresheet, Rashford was preserved for the much bigger battle against City. 👀🔥
And then there is Rashford’s history against City. This is not just another Premier League fixture for him. He has repeatedly shown that he can produce moments of danger in this rivalry, and his previous derby experience could be extremely valuable in a game where emotions, pressure and individual battles will be through the roof. ⚡️🏙️
But there is a serious argument for leaving him out. 😳
Cunha and Šeško both scored against Sabah, while Bryan Mbeumo has also emerged as an important attacking option. That leaves Carrick with a selection headache: does he reward current attacking form, or does he trust Rashford’s pace, experience and derby pedigree? 🤔🔥
Former striker Darren Bent has even argued that Cunha should start ahead of Rashford, despite admitting that dropping Rashford would feel harsh.
Meanwhile, Manchester City arrive at Old Trafford with a perfect start under new manager Enzo Maresca, making this an enormous test for Carrick’s United side. After a defeat against Hull City and a late draw against Everton, United desperately need a statement performance.
This is exactly the type of match where Rashford can silence the doubters. 😮💨🔥
Imagine the scenes if Carrick starts him and Rashford delivers against City once again! 🤯🔴
So, United fans…
👀 SHOULD MARCUS RASHFORD START AGAINST MANCHESTER CITY?
🅰️ YES — START RASHFORD! 🔥🔴
🅱️ NO — KEEP HIM ON THE BENCH! ❌
The Manchester Derby is calling… and Carrick has a massive decision to make. 👀⚔️
